Following a 14-year moratorium, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration re-approved silicone breast implants for use in breast augmentation. This November is the fourth anniversary of the FDA lifting the ban after extensive tests were conducted concerning the safety of silicone implants in the human body. Las Vegas plastic surgeons Dr. Hankins and Dr. Sohn recently discussed the moratorium, and the difference between saline and silicone breast implants, as well as the need to first address each patient’s cosmetic enhancement goals and expectations.
